IREM Says Goodbye to 2013 and Welcomes 2014 with Great Anticipation!
It’s hard to believe how quickly each year passes the older I get! It seems like just yesterday I was being sworn in as the 2013 President for the Northern Colorado Chapter of IREM. Our Chapter has gone through so many changes in recent years; 2013 was another opportunity for us to implement more changes, including our new name “Greater Denver”. To use the analogy of the life cycle of the butterfly, we’ve experienced a metamorphosis and have gone from being a caterpillar to a vibrant organization whose new wings have allowed us to take off and soar! 2013 has been great and 2014 will be even more wonderful!
The 2014 Board will consist of the following people:
- Tim Herrin, CPM – President (Regional Manager, Lincoln Properties)
- Mark Polatsek, CPM – President-Elect (Property Manager, Compton Dando)
- Julia Paluka, CPM – Treasurer (Vice President, NexCore)
- Michael Reimer, Candidate – Secretary (Community Manager, Mint Urban)
- Lori Moore, ARM – Member at Large (Property Manager, Healthcare Management of America)
- Scott Goldammer, CPM – Member at Large (Property Manager, Miller Real Estate Investments)
- Ashton Steele, CPM, RPA – Member at Large (Senior Property Manager, Crescent Real Estate Equities & 2010 Past President)
I know this group will continue to bring great experience to our Chapter and, in doing so, will help push our organization to the next level!
With this Board’s leadership, 2014 will also mean even more great changes for our Chapter; including launching our new series entitled “WorkLife Empowerment”, collaborating on a Career Fair, having a little fun at a Rockies game, bringing a comprehensive industry legislative update event, hosting our Golf Tournament, and re-engaging in community service.
Being a part of this Chapter has brought me such joy these last five years, it’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s been worth every minute. I remember when I started on this path someone said to me, “Tiffany, you will get so much more out of this organization than you could ever give to it by volunteering on this Board.” I remember thinking that couldn’t be possible! Now, five years later, as my term as President has come to an end, I get it! I have learned to collaborate with the leadership team from many positions, I have contacts around the world because of my attendance at National Conferences, I have learned many great leadership skills which I apply daily, and I have become a better Property Manager for my Owners and Tenants; all because of my involvement in IREM. While my term as President is over, I can assure you, my time with IREM is not! I look forward to continuing to be an active member of our Chapter and to attending our National Conferences for years to come.
I want to say a special, “Thank You” to everyone who has helped me, challenged me, and encouraged me along the way; you know who you are. You have made me a better person! “Thank You” to the Chapter, for allowing me to be a part of this amazing leadership team, and for all the great opportunities that came my way because of my involvement with you! And a special “Thank You” to the National Leadership Team who, over these last few years, have taken me under their wing and encouraged me to get involved on National Committees and start down the road toward serving on the National Board someday; your encouragement allowed me to see a side of IREM I didn’t know existed!
I encourage you to attend one of our events in 2014, whether as a member or as a guest, and see what IREM Greater Denver is all about. We expect to sell out, so register in advance. Let us help you find your place in the organization; there are so many ways to advance your career development and lend your expertise. Getting involved in IREM will be one of the best professional decisions you make!
If you have questions about getting involved or about membership options, contact Jodi Holstein, at firstname.lastname@example.org and be sure to find me at an upcoming event and introduce yourself; I will do everything in my power to help you get connected so you, too, can get as much from your IREM membership as I have!
